Kaylene Diaz is pursuing a DMA in Horn Performance at UNL, and is one of the horn studio’s graduate teaching assistants. An active performer in the Nebraska area, she joined Lincoln’s Symphony as second horn in 2015, and frequently substitutes with the Omaha Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, and Plymouth Brass. In the summers of 2013 and 2015, she performed with the National Music Festival in Chestertown, Maryland, and in the summer of 2016, she participated in Italian Brass Week in Florence, Italy. In the past, she has won competitions and mock auditions with the Southeast Horn Workshop and MTNA.

At UNL, Kaylene performs with the UNL Symphony, the Husker Horn Choir, and with graduate brass and woodwind quintets. She received her MM from UNL and a Bachelor of Music with Honors from the University of Alabama, where she studied with Charles “Skip” Snead. Kaylene has also played in lessons and masterclasses with internationally renowned horn players, including Dale Clevenger, Froydis Ree Wekre, Stefan de Leval Jezierski, Bernhard Scully, and Jeff Nelsen.
