Undergraduate Auditions

Performing a live audition for a panel of strangers can be a daunting and intimidating task! What should I play? What should I wear? Am I allowed to speak to the committee? What if I get nervous! Do I need an accompanist?

Hopefully you will find answers to these and other questions as you check out these pages, but it is important to remember this:

THE COMMITTEE WANTS YOU TO PLAY WELL!!

Believe it or not, we're on your side!

Having said that, there are certain hoops to jump through to get the ball rolling on your goal to become a music major. First, you must be accepted to the University of Nebraska. To apply to the University, complete the ONLINE APPLICATION FORM.

You should also check out the UNL OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS PAGE for more detailed information. When you fill out the form, be sure to indicate that you are applying to the College of Fine and Performing Arts and that your major is MUSIC!

Get admitted to the University as soon as you can. As soon as possible after that, apply to the School of Music. The sooner you are admitted, the easier it is to finalize your class schedule and the better your chance of receiving a scholarship or financial aid from the University or from the School of Music. Getting admitted doesn't obligate you to attend, so you can continue exploring other possibilities without missing the opportunity to be admitted to the School of Music and to be considered for scholarships.

After applying to the University, you'll need to schedule an audition with the School of Music. You must audition for the School of Music faculty to be accepted as a major or minor in music, and to be considered for music scholarships.  To schedule an audition, CLICK HERE.

Of course, you should also check out the School of Music website, which has even more information regarding auditions, scholarships, and the other musical offerings at the University of Nebraska.
