A message from Dr. Richmond

John Richmond

Welcome to the School of Music in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The UNL School of Music is made up of an impressive array of exceptional artists, scholars, teachers, and students who find joy and great satisfaction in the serious study of music and dance. We embrace what our UNL 2020 Vision Statement calls “an uncompromising commitment to excellence.” We expect that excellence of ourselves and of our students.

This School of Music facilities include the Westbrook Music Building, the Kimball Recital Hall, the Mabel Lee Hall (for dance), and the Lied Center for the Performing Arts. The music facilities cluster on the southwest corner of UNL’s City Campus in beautiful downtown Lincoln. The hum of the city is delightfully in tune with the energies of our School of Music.

At whatever juncture you find yourself in your professional journey, I hope you will consider UNL as a place where we might help you reach your dreams.

Sincerely,

John W. Richmond, Ph.D.
