The UNL Vocal Jazz Ensemble focuses on performing in the jazz idiom.  Students are instructed in varying tonal and timbral production, the art of solo jazz singing, and vocal improvisation.   Students experience performing jazz arrangements of standard jazz repertoire on a sound system with a rhythm section of piano, bass and drums.  The ensemble rehearses twice a week on Monday and Wednesday afternoon, from 3:30-4:45pm. The Ensemble has participated in various on- and off-campus performances including the UNL concert season, area coffee houses, area festivals (including the UNL Chamber Choir Festival and the NCDA Vocal Jazz Festival), and caroling tours. Please contact their director, Kara Baxter at karahoefs@hotmail.com or Dr. Peter Eklund at peklund1@unl.edu for additional information.
